Sharolyn is an Engineering Coordinator for her day job as well as a published author. She joined CLSAR in 2003 and currently serves as CLSAR's President. K-9 Levia arrived in 2014 as a donation from her breeder, Azize Ridgebacks. She is a Rhodesian Ridgeback certified in SAR Trailing and Water Recovery. Rafah is a German Shepherd rescue who joined us in 2017, he is certified Air Scent, Land HRD, and Water Recovery.
Sharolyn's German Shepherd Ariel having served many years to help find missing people, and even being awarded the MN Veterinary Medical Association's Professional Animal of the Year for 2013, was lost to us in 2014. Sharolyn lost Gus, a mixed breed adopted from HART Humane Society, in January 2011. Gus was a goofy character with an incredible work ethic who responded to many searches during his time as a SAR dog. Jael was lost to us in November, 2017, having a confirmed find on one of her last searches of 2017.
Sharolyn is a graduate of the National Inland Search and Rescue Planning School, NASAR SAR Tech II certified, Type III Incident Command, and is a certified MN Emergency Manager. In her free time she instructor/Examiner for AERIE (Alliance of Emergency Response Instructors and Examiners), as well as a K-9 Evaluator for NSSDN, the Northern States Search Dog Network. She is an instructor for Search Management, K-9 SAR, AHA First Aid / CPR, and has helped instruct FEMA ICS-300 through the Civil Air Patrol. Sharolyn is also certified for NFPA Cold Water Rescue.
