These K-9's are trained to detect human remains to the exclusion of other scents, even the scent of dead animals.  Because decomposition happens gradually over time, the dogs can be used to locate even long-buried remains.  K-9's trained for this discipline have even been used to locate Indian burial grounds.  Land cadaver is a separate evaluation from shoreline or watercraft, however the training is very similar.  A trained indication of the find is required.
