The Minnesota Search Dog Network (MSDN) was started as a grass-roots push to establish state-wide standards and provide outside evaluations for search and rescue K-9 teams that deploy in the state of Minnesota. Recently the members of MSDN voted to rename the Network to Northern States Search Dog Network (NSSDN). This change was made to reflect the current membership which now includes teams from outside of Minnesota. It was also based on the joint desire to uphold and strengthen the standards created by the founding members of MSDN. NSSDN welcomes any who support the mission and standards of NSSDN, including interested Law Enforcement personnel. Many of the founding units, which include CLSAR, continue to utilize, maintain and enhance these standards, along with the help of new members that have joined the network after its creation. Our K-9 teams train to our own CLSAR standards which are required to meet or exceed NSSDN's, but our final evaluation of a team is in the capable hands of NSSDN evaluators. We do not self-evaluate our K-9 teams. |
